What's new

BVILDR 1.7.0 (28 October 2026)

New:

Weather (Media > Lighting): Clear / Fog / Overcast / Rain presets - a visibility distance and fog colour, useful for showing what was or wasn't visible under the conditions you're modelling, not just atmosphere - plus a Wetness control that adds a shine to upward-facing surfaces like puddles. Both can be set by the presets or dialled in yourself.

A "Wet asphalt" texture (Media > Textures): a real, selectable wet-looking material - apply it to any surface the normal way, and it keeps its shine regardless of the scene's Weather setting.

Sound sources (Media > Audio, Pro to place new ones): put sounds in your scene - free-standing or attached to a moving part - that fade and pan as you move around them. Build a library of your own MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC/M4A clips to use. Shows up in the Hierarchy alongside your cameras.

Anti-aliasing (Performance panel): Off / Standard / High. Smooths jagged edges on CAD models by rendering at a higher resolution and resolving it down - a real quality/performance tradeoff, off by default.

Bounding box override (Inspector > Size, whole model selected): if an imported CAD model's reported size or on-screen framing doesn't match what you can see - some source files carry stray reference geometry that throws off the computed envelope - you can now type in the correct size and center yourself. Doesn't touch the real geometry, so picking, clash and deviation checks are unaffected.

Improved:

The Spline panel and Advanced > Edit tab no longer crowd their own labels and buttons together when the UI is scaled up for a large display.

Auto UI scale now follows the display immediately if you move the window to a monitor with a different scale, instead of staying stuck at launch's setting.

Dragging a CAD part onto its own model's row in the Hierarchy panel is smoother and more consistent.

3D mouse (SpaceMouse) input no longer occasionally jitters the view or zooms out unexpectedly while pitching.

A clearer message when joining a collaborative session fails, to help tell a typo'd address apart from a network/firewall block.

Hardened the point-cloud-to-FBX export against invalid geometry reaching the file.

Orbiting past straight up or down no longer stops there: keep dragging and the view spins all the way over the top, like a globe, instead of just horizontal orbit doing that.

Selected parts show an outline by default instead of a colour tint (Open menu > Panels still lets you choose either).

Fixed:

Open menu > "Start page" now works even when a scene is already loaded, instead of doing nothing.

Orbiting could flicker or snap to a different view when dragging close to straight up or down.

After flipping the view upside down, right-clicking to orbit again could snap it back upright unexpectedly, before you'd even moved the mouse.
